Blackberry AAA

Blackberry is most commonly attributed to a cross of Black Domina (an ultra-potent pure indica from Afghan, Canadian, Ortega, and Hash Plant genetics) and a berry-expressing sativa such as Raspberry Cough or similar fruity genetics. The Black Domina component provides the deep, heavy indica body effects and dark bud coloration, while the berry genetics contribute the authentic dark berry aroma and some mood-lifting dimension to what would otherwise be a purely sedating indica.

Blackberry's dark purple and near-black bud colouration comes from high anthocyanin expression — water-soluble pigment compounds in the cannabis plant that produce red, purple, and blue colours. Anthocyanin expression is triggered by temperature fluctuations during the late flowering stage (cooler night temperatures), and strains with Black Domina or other dark-pigmented genetics in their lineage are particularly prone to developing striking purple-to-black bud colouration. At AAA quality, this visual appeal is well-expressed.

Blackberry's indica-dominant character makes it frequently used for: insomnia (the deep sedating effects and sleep promotion from myrcene and linalool terpenes are well-documented); chronic pain (Black Domina's heavy indica analgesia); muscle tension and spasms; anxiety and stress relief; and appetite stimulation. At AAA quality, the therapeutic terpene expression is at its most potent and effective.
